Benin’s National Assembly Gives Green Light for the Abolition of the Death Penalty

Benin’s National Assembly voted in favour of ratifying the Second Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Once the bill of ratification is deposited, Benin will become the 74^th state worldwide to join the Second Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which prohibits the death penalty.
