On 17 November 2020, the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) considered a draft resolution on a moratorium on the use of the death penalty. The draft resolution was adopted by 120 votes in favour, 39 against and 24 abstained. The final vote at the plenary session of the UNGA is expected to take place in the second half of December.
