In Sudan, three alleged child offenders are facing the threat of being executed. They were sentenced to death by the Special Court in Darfur on 21 October 2010, although the use of the death penalty on persons below 18 years of age is clearly prohibited by International Law as well as by the Sudanese 2010 Child Act.
