Taiwan executed five prisoners only one year after the resumption of the implementation of the death penalty which put an end to a de facto moratorium which had been in place since 2006. The executions were carried out on 4 March after the Minister of Justice signed their execution decrees earlier that day. The executions were carried out only a few weeks after the revelation of a case of wrongful execution. ICDP had issued a statement in this regard.
