On 18 November, Robert Badinter was awarded the Medal of Cesare Beccaria for his constant fight against the death penalty. The ceremony was held at the Collège de France in Paris. The event was organized by the Collège de France and the International Society of Social Defence and Humane Criminal Policy, in partnership with the International Network of Academics for the Abolition of Capital Punishment, Ensemble contre la peine de mort and the World Coalition against the Death Penalty. Mohammed Bedjaoui, member of the ICDP and former Foreign Minister of Algeria, was also present at the event.
