ICDP deeply regrets that Jordan reportedly resumed executions, after a hiatus of several years, when six men were executed by its authorities on 21 June 2026. The executions, by hanging, were carried out for crimes related to terrorism and drug trafficking that led to the deaths and injuries of police officers and soldiers, marking a significant shift in Jordan’s approach to capital punishment and raising serious concerns about future executions.
