ICDP Commissioners wrote an open letter addressed to the Honorable Kay Ellen Ivey, Governor of the State of Alabama, to express their deep concern regarding the execution of 58-year-old Kenneth Eugene Smith, scheduled for 25-26 January 2024, using nitrogen hypoxia, a method of execution by gassing leading to fatal asphyxiation that has never been used in the history of the United States.
