Mr Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, former Prime Minister of Spain, becomes an Honorary Member of the Commission. Mr. Zapatero was the driving force behind the 2010 Spanish initiative to establish the International Commission against the Death Penalty. His commitment to the cause of abolition and his international standing will further strengthen the Commission’s work to achieve a world free of executions.
