ICDP conducted missions to the US state of Ohio from 19 to 20 November 2024; to Seoul, South Korea from 21 to 26 November and to Rome from 27 to 30 November.
During the mission to Columbus, Ohio, an ICDP delegation led by Commissioners Dannel Malloy, former Governor of Connecticut, Enda Kenny, former Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of Ireland, and staff from the ICDP Secretariat, held meetings with Governor Mike DeWine, with Senate President Matt Huffman, Senators and Members of the Congress of the Ohio legislature, and with key representatives of civil society organizations to discuss issues related to the death penalty in the state.
In Seoul, South Korea, an ICDP delegation led Commissioner Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, former President of the Philippines, and staff from the ICDP Secretariat held meetings with Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary-General of the United Nations, and key representatives from important human rights civil society organizations including the National Human Rights Commission of Korea, and diplomatic missions of the ICDP Support Group.
In Rome, Italy, an ICDP delegation led by Commissioner Sylvie Kayitesi and staff from the ICDP Secretariat participated in the 14th International Congress of Ministers of Justice, titled “No Justice Without Life,” organized by Community Sant’Egidio. The delegation had open and constructive meetings with Ministers of Justice from Africa and Asia and with diplomats from ICDP Support Group including Italy and Switzerland.
