On 3 and 4 May, ICDP Executive Director was invited to Belarus to attend a meeting at the House of Representatives at the initiative of Mr. Naumovich, President of the Working Group on abolition of the Death Penalty, along with a delegate from the Death Penalty Project. The meeting was attended by over 40 Parliamentarians. There were also interviews with media.
On 4 May, Mr. Naumovich organized a visit to his constituency where they met with local deputies, media and students. ICDP Executive Director and fellow delegate also met with the local NGos in Belarus (Viasna and Belarusian Helsinki Committee) to discuss the situation of the death penalty and follow-up. They also met with diplomats from a few Embassies in Minsk as well as the UN and EU.
