ICDP condemns in the strongest possible terms the accelerating use of capital punishment by the Islamic Republic of Iran (Iran) as an instrument of political repression. Since the outbreak of nationwide protests in December 2025 and January 2026, Iranian authorities have executed at least 26 people convicted of protest-related offences following proceedings that failed to meet the most basic international standards of due process.
