On November 23, 2021, Executive Director Asunta Vivó participated in the Conference on the Death Penalty (Jornada sobre la pena de muerte) organized by Helsinki Spain.
After her speech at 12:30 on the work of ICDP, the conference was closed with the testimony of Joaquín José Martínez, the first European and Spanish individual to be exonerated from death row in the United States. Our Executive Director will also be joined by UNED professors of international law Fernando de Val and Carmen Quesada, who will discuss the death penalty in international law and arguments for and against capital punishment at 9:00 and 10:00. Amnesty International’s Carlos de las Heras will examine the international application of the death penalty and moratoria at 11:00.
