ICDP warmly welcomes the unanimous vote by the National Assembly of the Republic of Suriname (Suriname), on 23 July 2026, authorising the country's accession to the Second Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, aiming at the abolition of the death penalty. All 31 members present voted in favour.
