On 19 and 20 May 2022, the ICDP Secretariat was invited to the International Congress against the Death Penalty: Opinio Iuris and International Law, an event organized by the Network for the Abolition of the Death Penalty and Cruel Punishment. Executive Director Asunta Vivó Cavaller participated in a discussion on the scientific and academic perspectives on the fight against capital punishment. The event also included a tribute to Honorary Commissioner and former President Federico Mayor Zaragoza, who was awarded the Medal of Cesare Beccaria, with a speech by Honorary Commissioner José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
