On the occasion of the launching of the Spanish language version of its report on Children, Youth and Death Penalty, the International Commission against the Death Penalty is holding an event in Madrid, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain (MAEUEC) on Tuesday, 21 May 2024. The event, which will also be streamed online live, will feature the participation of:
- H.E. Mr. José Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain.
- H.E. Ms. Judge Navi Pillay, President of ICDP.
- H.E. Ms. Marta Santos Pais, Commissioner of ICDP.
- Jorge Cardona Llorens, President of UNICEF (Comunidad Autónoma de Valencia) and former Member of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.
- Video message from H.E. Prof. Michael O’Flaherty, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe.
The presentations of the expert guests will be followed by a discussion panel of young advocates of child rights reacting to the conclusions of the ICDP report and a brief interactive session from the audience.
