The International Commission against the Death Penalty welcomes the European Union event, Abolition of the death penalty – Ten years of joint efforts. The panel was cosponsored by the EU, Mexico, Mongolia and Switzerland and supported by the International Commission against the Death Penalty and the World Coalition against the Death Penalty.
The panel discussion takes place at the UN in Geneva and will bring together activist from around the world to review progress towards abolition and the challenges that remain to achieve a death penalty free world.
Ms. Kyung-wha KANG, Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights will open the meeting. The panelists are: Ms. Emma BONINO, Vice-President of the Senate of the Republic of Italy; Mr. Renny CUSHING, Executive Director of Murder Victims’ Families for Human Rights; Ms. Yanjmaa RAVDAN, Board Chair of Amnesty International Mongolia; and Mr. Rodolfo MATTAROLLO, Member of the International Commission against the Death Penalty. Ms. Imogen FOULKES BBC Geneva correspondent will moderate the meeting.
