In November 2011, a series of events will take place in Vienna in order to draw attention to the history of the death penalty in Austria, its successful abolition in Europe, and the campaign for its universal abolition.
Within the context of these events, two movies are going to be screened and discussed. The first one is the film “Still Killing” produced by the Academic Network for the Abolition of Capital Punishment. The other one is “Thou Shalt Not Kill” directed by the famous Polish filmmaker Krzystof Kielslowski. The latter movie contributed to the abolition of the death penalty in Poland.
On 9 November, Secretary-General of the Secretariat of the ICDP Asunta Vivó Cavaller will participate in the panel “Completing the task: towards the universal abolition of the death penalty”.
The events are organized by the Vienna Liason Office of the Academic Council of the United Nations System (ACUNS). Click here for more details on the programme.
